Goalkeeper Paul Gallacher will have an operation on Thursday on the shoulder injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The former Scotland keeper hopes the procedure will allow him to return for pre-season training at Dunfermline.

Gallacher, 32, strained ligaments and fractured a bone in his shoulder when Hearts midfielder Rudi Skacel fell on him in a game in December.

Pars boss Jim McIntyre signed Preston's Iain Turner on loan as temporary cover.

Turner and Chris Smith will compete for a starting place for the remainder of the season.
