Peterborough United defender Scott Wootton has returned to parent club Manchester United after having his loan spell terminated.
The 20-year-old, who and went on to feature 14 times, was due to be at London Road until the end of the season.
Boss Darren Ferguson told the club website: "It is a joint decision to be honest.
"I had a chat with Scott and he felt he wasn't really playing enough games."
He added: "So I was happy to let him go back to Old Trafford."
Wootton arrived at Peterborough alongside United team-mate Ryan Tunnicliffe, who is still with the Championship club.
He played the first 45 minutes of before being replaced by captain Grant McCann.
