Gainsborough Trinity manager Steve Housham felt his side's efforts were rewarded as they grabbed a 3-2 Blue Square Bet North win over Histon.
Paul Connor scored twice for the Blues before Andrew Boyce snatched the winner deep in added time, seconds after coming on as a substitute.
"I'm pleased we came out with the three points," Housham told BBC Lincolnshire.
"We gave away two sloppy goals but we had that belief, we kept going and we got our reward in the end."
Connor capitalised on a defensive mix-up to give Trinity the advantage at the break, but they found themselves trailing after an hour to goals from Daniel Holman and James Stevenson.
Connor equalised from the penalty spot with 11 minutes to go after a foul on Leon Mettam before defender Boyce turned home Kevin Sandwith's corner with his first touch of the ball to win the match.
