Newport County have signed Oxford United midfielder Adam Chapman on loan for a month.

Chapman, 22, was a regular in Oxford's Blue Square Premier promotion season in 2009-10 and was man of the match in the play-off final win over York.

But he was jailed a month later and has made only one appearance in League Two since returning to the club.

Newport hope to complete the paperwork in time for Chapman to be eligible for Saturday's league match at Gateshead.

He was sentenced to 30 months detention in June 2010 for causing death by dangerous driving and was released in September 2011.
