Stephen Small started his managerial reign at Donegal Celtic with a Premiership draw with basement club Glenavon at Suffolk Road.
Kyle Neill pounced on a misplaced clearance from Johnny Harkness to fire the visitors ahead in the 20th minute.
Glenavon player/manager Gary Hamilton came off with an injury after forcing Gerard McVeigh into a good save.
Darren Murphy levelled on 58 minutes with a composed finish while McVeigh continued to deny Glenavon.
Former Carrick Rangers boss Small was appointed manager on Friday, following Paddy Kelly's resignation after news emerged of a rift at the club.
"It's good to hit the running running with this game," said Small after the draw.
"Paddy Kelly did a good job here with a good squad which I hope to build upon.
"I am capable of focusing on the football side of things and I have been given assurances by the club which I am happy with."
