Debutant Alex MacDonald completed a dramatic turnaround for relegation-threatened Plymouth as they held title-chasing Southend to a draw.
Michael Timlin gave the Shrimpers the lead after blocking keeper Jake Cole's attempted clearance and David Martin made it 2-0 from close range.
Nick Chadwick pulled one back from 20 yards out with five minutes left.
And Burnley loanee MacDonald pounced on a rebound after Joe Lennox's shot hit the post for a point.
MacDonald joined Argyle on transfer deadline day and his 88th-minute goal prevented Southend from going top, although his new side remain in the relegation zone.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Plymouth Argyle manager Carl Fletcher told BBC Radio Devon:
"I thought the fans were great today, especially in the first half when things weren't going too well. They kept behind the team non stop.
"That team spirit and bond we've got in the changing room is a rare thing.
"The lads don't know when they're beaten, which is a good thing."
