Sheffield Wednesday defender Daniel Jones has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a calf injury.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury at Scunthorpe, having only just returned to action after an ankle problem.
Manager Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's a big blow for him, so we've given him a week off and he'll come back and see how he is."
Megson is looking at making more signings when the loan window reopens next week as cover in defence.
In addition to Jones injury, the Owls have three defenders close to suspension.
"We've got three treading thin ice in terms of bookings, Reda's (Johnson) on eight, Rob's (Jones) on seven and Danny Batth's on seven," Megson added/
