Morecambe 1-0 Macclesfield

Morecambe had keeper Chris Kettings to thank after securing a narrow victory over Macclesfield.

Danny Carlton nodded the winner home from close range after visiting keeper Jose Veiga could only parry Gary McDonald's strike into his path.

George Donnelly saw a long-range effort well saved by Kettings, and two further efforts blocked by defenders.

Kettings stole the show in injury time with a fine save to deny Tony Diagne, while Donnely struck a post.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I don't know what we've done, killed a few black cats and smashed a few mirrors, because how it hasn't gone in the goal I just don't know.

"We've hit inside the post and outside the post, but we've just got to keep going.

"He [Shaun Brisley] is a local lad and supporters of the town can be proud of the boy. He's been terrific for us and you can't stand in his way.

"If [Tony] Diagne plays like he has done tonight it will not be long before people are looking at him as well."
