Southport 2-0 Darlington

Goals from Karl Ledsham and Shaun Whalley helped Southport overcome crisis club Darlington.

The Sandgrounders took the lead when Ledsham smashed home James Smith's delivery from close range.

Ryan Bowman almost equalised for the visitors but his effort was stopped by Southport keeper Tony McMillan.

The hosts were allowed to double their advantage when Tony Gray teed up Whalley, who slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford.

Toothless Quakers a concern - Liddle

"Before they scored we had an opportunity to go 1-0 up, but we didn't have that belief in and around their box that we're going to score goals.

"Look at the league table and the goals for column, it doesn't lie and we're down there for a reason.

"I'm disappointed because first half we played some decent stuff but in the second we didn't play anywhere near to the standard I expect."
