Barrow ran out comfortable winners over struggling Kettering thanks to Andy Cook's double.
Jerel Ifil tripped Alex-Ray Harvey in the box to allow Richie Baker to fire home from the spot and set the hosts on their way.
Danny Mills came closest for the Poppies with a speculative drive that was saved by Shaun Pearson.
Cook slotted past Laurie Walker for 2-0 before steering home Paul Rutherford's cross to complete the win.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Kettering Town Caretaker manager Ashley Westwood told BBC Radio Northampton:
"I counted five really good chances, possibly three or four with just the keeper to beat; that's football I suppose and it just wasn't meant to be.
"It was a tackle in my eyes, he clearly won the ball but the referee seems to think it was a penalty which he has given.
"It wasn't our day today, the luck wasn't with it but we'll go again Tuesday.
"There's no panicking at the minute and I'm sure we'll be fine."
