Barrow 1-1 Forest Green

Sam Russell saved a late penalty to earn Forest Green a draw at Barrow.

Rovers started brightly and went ahead when Yan Klukoswki finished after Keiron Forbes cut the ball back following a surging run.

They were reduced to 10 men before half time when Jamie Collins saw red for an elbow on Alex-Ray Harvey, and the hosts drew level through Andy Cook's header.

Jake Thomson felled Harvey late on but Russell denied the Bluebirds victory by saving Richie Baker's effort.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Forest Green Rovers manager Dave Hockaday told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"I'm disappointed in the goal as it travelled 30-plus yards into our box and we've got to defend that better but having said that I can't fault the players for effort.

"It's a great point given the fact we've gone down to 10 men and I think that's incredibly harsh if you're looking for consistency from the officials, but we'll take that home and prepare for the next game.

"We've come here and stood up to them and they didn't like that, which is great from our point of view because we're a young group, it's a big step for my players and I was very proud of them."
