St Johnstone have signed former Hibernian right-back Michael Hart until the end of the season and loaned Carl Finnigan to Dundee.

The Perth club have now completed the paperwork for former Aberdeen and Preston North End player Hart, who was released by Hibs last month.

Finnigan will now play in Division One.

Saints' website stated: "The striker joined Saints last summer from Falkirk but has been unable to become regularly involved in first-team affairs."

Finnigan has made four starts and appeared as a substitute eight times.

"The Dens Park side have a vital game tonight - coincidentally against Falkirk - tonight and Carl is added to their squad for that game," Saints added.

Hart came through the ranks at Aberdeen before joining Livingston after a couple of loan spells at Almondvale.

He returned to Pittodrie in 2003 and spent five years with the Scottish Premier League club before joining Preston, who cancelled his contract in July.

Hart spent an injury-hit five months at Easter Road but made only seven appearances, before being released after Pat Fenlon took over as manager from Colin Calderwood.

His last appearance was in a 3-2 defeat by St Johnstone on 21 January.
