Darren Young's late goal earned Alloa Alloa all three points over Clyde to stretch their lead at the top of Division Three to eight points.
Stephen May had a promising opportunity to put the league leaders ahead but headed wide from six yards out after 24 minutes.
Clyde's best chance of the half fell to John Neill, who forced Alloa goalkeeper Scott Bain into a save with a close-range header.
The Bully Wee again came close to taking the lead 11 minutes after the break when Jamie Pollock volleyed Ryan Kane's corner over the bar.
Bain needed to be alert to deny Neill for a second time before Young scored the crucial goal of the game, neatly converting Ross McKinnon's left-wing cross to record his first goal of the season.
May spurned two late chances to double the his side's lead, but the Wasps were able to secure a first win in three games.
And, with Stranraer losing to Queen's Park, the Wasps have established a healthier lead in the race for the one automatic promotion spot.
