Macclesfield goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell produced a number of vital saves to frustrate Bristol Rovers.
O'Donnell, on loan from Sheffield Wednesday, parried a powerful effort from Mustapha Carayol and later pushed Lee Brown's shot out for a corner.
Rovers dominated possession but Carayol also shot wide, Matt Lund fired a free-kick at O'Donnell and Matt Harrold failed to connect with Brown's cross.
Macclesfield, who have not won in 13 games, rarely threatened the home goal.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Bristol Rovers manager Mark McGhee told BBC Radio Bristol:
"I was delighted with the way we passed the ball at times, on a really difficult surface.
"We made the best chances and I think we were unfortunate not to take one of them.
"Their keeper was terrific - he made one save from Lee Brown and none of us could believe he got to it.
"They set up in a determined way and were a really difficult shape to break down."
