Darlington's run without a win was stretched to 12 games as they were beaten by Ebbsfleet.
Gozie Ugwu missed a chance to open the scoring for the Fleet when his header was saved by Jordan Pickford.
Liam Enver-Marum opened the scoring early in the second half when he was left unmarked in the box to fire home.
And seconds later Ugwu slotted home from 12 yards to seal the win and leave the financially struggling Quakers four points off safety.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish told BBC Radio Kent:
"It was better than our last performance. It's a big win on the road on the back of a disappointing result (against Wrexham).
"Until mathematical, I'm not counting any chickens. We're down to our last nine games and I want us not to peter out.
"I want to amass as many points as we can and that is what we will do.
"This was a big win, we've lost our last three away games which is massive - 46 points with nine games left but we've still got a bit of work to do and keep our foot on the pedal."
