Dave McAllister seeks longer loan at Shrewsbury Town

Midfielder Dave McAllister hopes Shrewsbury Town will be able to extend his loan from Sheffield United until the end of the season - but admits that may not be possible.

League regulations could see the 23-year-old miss Town's promotion run-in.

"They've tried to get it to the end of the season but there's been problems," McAllister told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"The Football League won't allow it because there's only 90 odd days allowed, there's a few complications."

Shrewsbury have won seven out of the 11 games McAllister has played since joining Shrewsbury on loan in January.

"We'll have to wait and see but I'd love to be here to the end, I think we've got a brilliant chance of promotion," he added.
