Aboutrika seals friendly win for Egypt over Uganda

Egypt and Al Ahly's Mohamed Aboutrika

Al Ahly's Mohamed Aboutrika scored a late goal to seal a 2-1 win for Egypt in a friendly against Uganda played in Sudan on Thursday.

Debutant Fabian Derrick Kizito made the most of a poor back pass in the 35th minute to score the opener for Uganda.

Substitute Ibrahim Salah levelled things up for the Pharaohs 10 minutes after half-time with his first touch.

Uganda, using a team of locally-based players, were eventually beaten by Aboutrika's last-gasp headed goal.

The former BBC African Footballer of the Year had announced his retirement from football in the wake of the Port Said tragedy, where 74 fans lost their lives.

However, he was named in the squad of American coach Bob Bradley shortly after returning for his Cairo club in the African Champions League.

Seven-time African champions Egypt are in Sudan for a week-long training camp and are set to play Chad on Saturday.

Bradley will be without Aboutrika and the other Ahly and Zamalek players for that game as they return to their clubs.

The two Cairo giants are preparing for their African Champions League second round second leg games on the 06-08 April.
