Carlisle's play-off hopes were dented after a drab goalless draw with struggling Scunthorpe.
The hosts had the better of possession and Lee Miller was just off target with a diving header before Liam Noble sent a low drive just wide.
Cliff Byrne wasted the Iron's best chance, slicing his shot against the legs of a defender.
Lubo Michalik almost grabbed a late winner for the Cumbrians, only to see his shot blocked.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Carlisle manager Greg Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria:
"It's very difficult to be critical of the team. It's probably a game where people looking at it from the outside think we should win.
"In respect, with the amount of games we've had I think it's been a terrific effort from the boys to get in sight of the top six.
"In days gone by these sorts of games against Scunthorpe were decent results, but the disappointment in that dressing room is unbelievable."
Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill told BBC Radio Humberside:
"It's another clean sheet and I'm delighted to take the point.
"If I'm going to be honest in November no-one saw us getting 50 points and it's been a great effort in the second half of the season.
"I thought it was a poor game and some of the refereeing didn't help."
