Mansfield 2-1 Stockport

Mansfield all but ensured their place in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs with a routine win over Stockport.

The hosts went ahead after the interval when Adam Smith produced a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Louis Briscoe doubled their advantage with a stunning strike from 30 yards that flew past Lewis King.

County substitute Jordan Rose pulled a goal back in the final minute when he smashed the ball home from the edge of the penalty area.

Mansfield Town assistant manager Micky Moore told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"All the results below us have gone for the team today. We wanted to get to 80 points, which is what we've got. We've got a foot in it now.

"We know if we get three or four more points, mathematically we're near enough there. It hasn't happened today mathematically but we're still in a strong position.

"We're not in control of the other teams. What we've always said is 'stay in control of your own destiny' and that's what we've done."
