Stenhousemuir recorded a crucial win over rivals Dumbarton to keep alive their hopes of promotion.

The visitors got off to a flying start when Brown Ferguson scored from the spot after Anthony Wallace had fouled Stewart Kean inside the box on five minutes.

Andy Rodgers doubled the advantage six minutes later when he rose highest to head home Grant Anderson's cross.

The home side showed signs of improvement after the break, Scott Agnew twice going close as they looked to reduced the deficit.

But the visitors slowly began to re-assert their dominance and Kean squandered a chance for a third when he blazed over inside the area.

Stenny were reduced to 10 men in the final minutes when Kieran Miller was shown a second yellow card.
