Derry City fell to defeat at the hands of Dundalk in Friday night's Premier Division game at the Brandywell.
Michael Rafter fired past Ger Doherty from 12 yards for the visitors' opening goal in the 15th minute.
David McDaid headed over the bar and Mark Farren was denied by a late tackle by Luke Danville.
Shane O'Neill tapped in after a Derry defensive mix-up on 52 minutes but Ruaidhri Higgins scored with a looping header over Peter Cherry on 84 minutes.
Dundalk were reduced to 10 men late on when Chris Shields was sent-off for a foul but Derry were only awarded a free-kick when it looked like a penalty would have been the proper punishment.
In the dying minutes Cherry saved from Patrick McEleney and Stephen McLaughlin was wide with a diving header.
Derry now lie sixth in the table, nine points behind leaders Sligo Rovers.
