Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis has signed a one-year contract extension at Aberdeen.

The versatile 21-year-old began his career as a goalkeeper but was viewed as a striker when he arrived from Cardiff City in 2010.

However, in recent matches, he has played at right back.

"A position manager Craig Brown believes could end up being his preferred one," said a statement on the Aberdeen club website.

Magennis has made 62 appearances, scoring six goals, since moving to Pittodrie.

The Bangor-born player, who also had a spell on loan from Cardiff with Grimsby Town, has played three times for his homeland.
