Gillingham appoint Andy Hessenthaler as director of football

Former Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler has been appointed director of football at the club.
Hessenthaler will oversee "all footballing matters," including scouting and player recruitment.
A statement on the club's website said: "Gillingham FC are delighted to confirm that Andy Hessenthaler has accepted the offer of a role on the board."
The 46-year-old stepped down as manager eight days ago after failing to guide the Gills to the League Two play-offs.
