Airdrie Utd 1-4 Dumbarton (2-6 agg)

Craig Dargo celebrates his opening goal

Dumbarton won promotion to the Scottish First Division after a second-leg victory over Airdrie secured a 6-2 aggregate play-off final win.

Craig Dargo converted Scott Agnew's pass in the ninth minute to add to the Sons' 2-1 lead from the first leg and fired home a second in 21 minutes.

Airdrie gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Derek Holmes forced home William McLaren's cross.

But Mark Gilhaney and Anthony Wallace put the result beyond doubt.

Gilhaney latched onto Anthony Wallace's pass to restore Dumbarton's three-goal aggregate lead in first-half injury time.

Wallace then put the visitors further ahead when he converted Bryan Prunty's pass midway through the second half and the hosts' afternoon got even worse when Jamie Bain saw red for a reckless challenge on James Creaney.
