Gary Rowett will not rush Burton summer recruitment

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett says he could bring in as many as eight or nine new players this summer, but insists he will not be rushed.

Rowett, who was named boss earlier this month, has already started his squad rebuilding by offering new deals to several players and releasing four.

He told BBC Radio Derby: "We have a fantastic chance to recruit well and possibly sign eight or nine players.

"I am not saying it will be slow but I don't want to jump into things."

Albion finished 17th in League Two, a comfortable 10 points clear of the relegation places, but Rowett is keen to get the club moving forward next season, and already has some potential signings in mind.

He added: "I have put lots of feelers out there. I have spoken to some players and will be meeting some players this week.

"If we can get deals done nice and early, then fantastic. But I think it's important they are the right deals for the club and the right players."
