Glasgow City beat Spartans 5-1 to claim SWPL Cup

Glasgow City collected the first silverware of the season by beating Spartans 5-1 in the Scottish Women's Premier League Cup final.

Jane Ross fired home from six yards to give City an early lead and Danica Dalziel's drive doubled the advantage.

Further strikes by Emma Mitchell and Leanne Ross put Glasgow four up at the half-time interval.

Leanne Ross claimed her second with a volley before Lana Clelland pulled one back for Spartans.

Glasgow City head coach Eddie Wolecki Black said of his side's victory at Recreation Park: "I am really happy for the players and everyone involved at the club.

"It wasn't just the players who played tonight but all the girls who have got us here, so everyone has played their part in this victory.

"To play in a Cup final and have a performance like that was very pleasing, especially in the first half when I thought we were incredible.

"It has been a few years since we have got our hands on this trophy and it is a nice one to have back."
