Colin Reid has left his position as first-team coach at Bishop's Stortford to take up a similar role at Blue Square Bet Premier club Macclesfield.
Reid has a wealth of coaching experience after spells with the academies at Tottenham, West Ham, Charlton and Leyton Orient.
Alongside manager Rod Stringer, Reid guided Bishop's Stortford to 10th place in the Blue Square North last season.
"He is a very knowledgeable football man," said Silkmen boss Steve King.
He told the club website: "It's important for me to work with someone who shares my philosophy in football and he fits in with that.
"He played a huge part in turning around the fortunes of Bishop's Stortford last season and they finished the season as the form side in the division.
"He also has a wealth of coaching experience from all levels of the game."
Macclesfield will be playing in non-league football for the first time since 1996-97 following their relegation from League Two at the end of last season.
