Mauritius midfielder Jonathan Bru has joined two-time Australian A-League champions Melbourne Victory.

Bru left Moreirense FC in Portugal's second tier to sign a two-year deal with the Aussie side.

Melbourne have also signed attack-minded Brazilian Guilherme Finkler who joins from Brazilian second division outfit Criciuma.

Bru, 27, played youth football for France, where he was born, but never made the senior side.

He has nine full international caps for Mauritius.

"I made it a priority to secure an experienced, defence-minded midfielder and Jonathan looks to be the ideal fit for our squad, especially considering the array of attacking options we have," Victory's new head coach Ange Postecoglou said.

"I had some very special times in Portugal but this proposal was very interesting," Bru told BBC Sport.

"It was unexpected and I just couldn't turn down the offer of a two-year contract."

"I'm supposed to start training with Victory on 1 July and I can't wait to start."

Before going to Portugal Bru spent one season in Cyprus with AEP Paphos F.C.
