Both sides were reduced to 10 men as Braintree secured a narrow one-goal victory at Ebbsfleet.
The visitors had chances in the first half through Josh Dawkin and Sean Marks and, at the other end, Tom Phipp's 25-yard shot hit the post.
Ebbsfleet's Patrick Ada saw red for a professional foul on Marks and the visitors took the lead through Kenny Davis's curler from 25 yards.
Marks was then sent off in injury time for a second bookable offence.

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:
"I thought we played well. We knew what was going to be thrown at us, I picked a team to do that, hold us into it and hopefully win the game later.
"I thought we were quite comfortable and should have won a bit more easily. We've hit the post a few times and Danny (Naisbitt) has only made a couple of saves the whole game.
"The whole of the back four did well, the midfield as well. We defended well as a group, which we set out to do."
