John Boyle fired a first-half hat-trick as Airdrie United demolished fellow promoted side Dumbarton on the opening day of the First Division season to gain revenge for their promotion play-off defeat.
The Diamonds, who were handed promotion late after Rangers dropped out of the Scottish Premier League, went ahead in the 14th minute with their first attack of the game.
Striker Boyle wriggled free inside the Sons' penalty area before finding the bottom left-hand corner with his right foot.
Former Airdrie striker Bryan Prunty headed over from six yards as Alan Adamson's side went in search of an equaliser.
However, Boyle lashed home left-footed for his second of the afternoon after 25 minutes.
Boyle was again celebrating six minutes later as he poked home right-footed from six yards out to claim the match ball.
James Lister's close-range finish reduced the arrears with little under half an hour remaining.
However, substitute Paul Di Giacomo tapped in Boyle's cross two minutes from time to seal a comfortable victory.
