Truro City have suffered a blow ahead of their opening Blue Square Bet South match on Saturday after striker Barry Hayles joined St Albans City.
The 40-year-old former Fulham and Plymouth forward scored 26 goals in 63 appearances for Truro in two seasons.
He is the latest player to leave the club after recent financial problems.
"St Albans City represent the best option for him to achieve something significant as his career winds down," said St Albans boss David Howell.
Truro boss Lee Hodges to try and keep him at Treyew Road for a third season.
And St Albans boss Howell says the striker he will be a good asset for his side.

"He's still a very fit guy and as well as goals, Barry will bring a lot of nous."
