Barnsley have signed goalkeeper David Gonzalez on non-contract terms.

The 30-year-old was released by Brighton at the end of last season, having joined the Gulls on a short-term deal in January.

Tykes boss Keith Hill revealed on Saturday that he would need to sign a new keeper, after Ben Alnwick was sent off for violent conduct in the League Cup win over Rochdale.

Gonzalez has previously had stints with Manchester City and Aberdeen.

The Colombian is likely to make his debut for the club in Saturday's Championship opener against Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old midfielder Paul Digby has signed an extended deal at Oakwell.

Digby, who made his Tykes debut at the age of 16 against Derby County last September, is now contracted to the club until 2015.
