Would have thought they'd make sahin part of the deal ah well more for arsenal
As with Arsenal, still feel that the wage structure at Spurs prohibits the type of player we need from signing on the dotted line, the type who can be the difference in tight, close matches. We have lacked this sort of outlet in last few seasons. An attacking talent who would have turned draws into wins. Highly prized at all clubs but they command highest wages
I agree Dave S. Everybody knows that good players put the ball in the back of the net or are, at least, the very last person to touch the ball before somebody else puts it in the net. Everything else that happens in a game is pointless. If you do not score or touch the ball immediately before somebody else scores, you're rubbish!
Yes a decorative presence , one who links play well and passes intelligently , is particularly good in tight areas of the pitch with opponents surrounding him/ closing in on him, but rarely influential in deciding matches
I do not all the fuss about Modric he scoed 5 goals and only had less than 7assists completely overated Dave s

185 - LOL - would be a success for him, I'm more worried about Spurs being successful.
I wasn't necessarily saying that top 4 is the requirement for success, just that might be what is expected as that was what we got with Harry. However, the other teams around us were at their weakest last season so getting top 4 was easier. The plan A/B argument could have equally been levelled at Harry. 1-0 down to Norwich, what do we do? Harry did nothing. AVB might do something. We'll see ;)
179.my2bobsworth20 Minutes agoSo what do you think AVB needs to do this season with Spurs to be considered a success? ----------------------------------------------------------------I think keeping his job for the whole season would be a success ;-)
Now we are almost in agreement - need to retain top four but play the attractive football we managed in the first half of the season. Only way to do that is to find the way to break down the likes of QPR when they go one up. And thats my issue with AVB, does he really have plan B in his locker and can he set a team up to play the way Spurs fans expect?
AVB I can see and understand but we need players, GK, LB, Att Mid, Winger with guile/ability not just pace striker, bentley, dos santos, bassong et all need to go - COYS
I'm a Chelsea fan and I feel AVB was not given a fair crack at the whip! He was draughted in for a project and the players didn't allow him to do that! I am quite glad he left however as we might not have had the instant success that Di Matteo brought. I do feel he could have done agood job, given the chance. Best of luck to AVB but I think he might need a lozenge to sort his voice out lol
Sadly it's a tough one. Sacking Harry for AVB in the name of progress, you would say that the minimum is top 4. Again though it isn't black and white. If Luka was staying, as it happened with Harry, it would be more straight forward and we probably would have signed a striker a while back. The problem is though with a transition like this (tactics and training methods) it can't happen overnight.
