Re Saha signing he did score two goals against a very high flying Newcastle in February
"Sunderland - Martin O'Neill improves attacking options by signing a statue of Emile Heskey and a beach ball. League Cup glory "More predictions for the forthcoming season at http://bit.ly/NveSPf
@ 46. He is a Liverpool player, scored that own goal. Confused Raina didn't know which way to go. BR issued a hands off warning, he is short of good finishers this season. Suarez is bit too ugly to play every game.

@12 Couple of pints, he'll be lucky.
Alexander Frei? experience and talented. Saha is a dud.
Yes Martin, another striker to Sunderland, but please don't spend £15million pounds on a person who is currently at a club 13 miles north of Birmingham.
@48 Fair enough, although you did bring wage into the mix. My earlier point kind of hinted at, can parochialism continue to be the driving force for clubs struggling to attract players. Which I suppose is the same as your question just with a different slant!
@47.. Don't really think his wages matter high, low whatever.. I was just stating the point that he's an injury prone former Newcastle captain and would Sunderland fans actually want him?
@45 No need for reading, have the luxury of being on leave so have seen Pulis on SSN this afternoon. I'm sure for the likes of Stoke or Sunderland he may not be considered cheap but it will also be far from 'high' in the greater scheme of things. Also, if he wants to stay in England, Owen will need to be realistic. Pay per play at Man U. can't command mega bucks elsewhere.
I was just about to seriously suggest Santa Cruz and his winter wonderland, much under rated that lad. Sunderland can much benefit from the whole fairplay thing as top teams look to clear their wage books, therefore waiting for Jan and the bargin bins might be an idea. Why do youse never play that beach ball that scored against us? Top drawer he was.
@42. I am a United Fan and I do know what that is.. But do you honestly think it will be cheap?Read this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19296204Here's a quote: "Michael hasn't gone anywhere and it's still a possibility," said Stoke manager Tony Pulis, who may find it difficult to meet Owen's wage demands.
I hear Darren Anderton is free?
roque santa cruz isnt wanted by man city, wants to stay in north of england, could do a job maybe
@40 High wages? I thought you said you were a Utd. fan? Do the words 'pay as you play' ring any bells?
If Louis Saha is the type of player Sunderland are looking for, there's plenty of other old, injury-prone mercenaries players out there.Hargreaves, Bullard, M Owen, Dyer and Saha could be the famous five.
