Rangers: Former Bayern keeper Rouven Sattelmaier on trial

Rouven Sattelmaier in training with Bayern Munich

Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Rouven Sattelmaier is the latest trialist being given the chance to win a contract with Rangers.

The 25-year-old German began his senior career at SSV Jan Regensburg before moving to Bayern Munich in 2010.

He became the club's second-team keeper and third choice for Bayern's first team but is now out of contract.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist is trying to form a squad before a 12-month signing ban comes into place.

Neil Alexander is first-choice goalkeeper at Ibrox following the departure of fellow Scotland international Allan McGregor to Besiktas.

The 23-year-old Scott Gallacher, who has had loan spells with Cowdenbeath and Forfar Athletic, is back-up.

McCoist has a number of trialists training with the club, including France Under-20 defender Sebastien Faure, ex-Siena striker Francesco Stella, released AEK Athens defender Anestis Argiriou and former Boca Juniors midfielder Francesco Celeste.

The manager, preparing for Tuesday's Ramsdens Cup tie against holders Falkirk, is hopeful of some signing news later in the week.

"We've got a couple of meetings today," he added.

"The trialists have been showing up well actually.

"I'm trying to organise another practice game for them in the middle of the week.

"Hopefully, in the next two or three days, we will have more news with one or two signings."
