The whole problem with Adebayor's wages stems from the footballing genius that is Mark Hughes-don't forget City still have the likes of Santa Cruz on the books on stupid wages too. This is why no initial contract for a footballer should be for more than 3 years - once you find out they are good enough put them on a 6 year contract, like Vincent Kompany is now!

This may have already been mentioned but doesn't this deal represent a 3rd party contract? "No club shall enter into a contract which enables any other party to that contract or any third party to acquire the ability to influence in employment and transfer related matters its independence, its policies or the performance of its teams"City stop paying Ade's contract ends?
Clearly good news for Tottenham based on his performance for them last year. Pretty amusin that Man C still paying some of his wages.Weird comments from clearly some Arsenal fans on here - maybe they are getting worried, theyve just got rid of a great striker in contrast Spurs have now got a good addition.
Has anyone noticed that neither Spurs or Adebayor have mentioend how long the contract at Spurs is?I wouldn't mind betting its only 2 years! And I say this from the point that Man City are going to 'subsidise' his wages, and they would surely (surely a business brain exists at the Eithad somewhere) only agree to do that for a max of 2 years - the time left on the his Man City contract.

5 Mill for Ade, 12 Mill rejected for Fletcher - go figure
Emmanuel Adebayor is worth £11m less than Wolves' Steven Fletcher... Anyone think Sunderland are being robbed here somewhat? And Man City for that matter... but what's unusual?WORLD FOOTBALL WEEKLY – ISSUE ELEVEN – OUT NOW
361 Londontraveller.Bankers nearly but not quite, obviously you do not know Adebuymore?
I do understand a little about what people are saying but if any company agreed to pay me a set wage, made me sign a binding contract and tried to end my contract and make me sign a contract for less wages elsewhere, I would laugh at them.City agreed to pay him that much. None of this is Adebayor's fault. And footballers have a 10-15 year career to earn money so dont compare them to BANKERS!
