Defender Dorin Goian has left Rangers to join Italian Serie B club Spezia on a season-long loan.

The 31-year-old Romanian international has experience of playing in Italy, having moved to Ibrox from Palermo in July 2011.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist also told BBC Scotland that midfielder Maurice Edu may be joining Stoke City.

"We hear from his agent that there is a potential deal to be done with Stoke," the Ibrox boss said.

On Monday, McCoist said the club had received an offer for USA international midfielder Edu from Ipswich.

With Rangers relaunched in Division Three, the 26-year-old has not featured this term and is seeking an exit.

Goian, who has two years of his contract to run, has played in all of Rangers' games this season, featuring in the league as well as the League Cup and Ramsdens Cup.
