Wycombe midfielder Sam Wood faces lengthy injury lay-off
Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Sam Wood could be out of action for 10 weeks after spraining knee ligaments.
The 20-year-old suffered the injury during Tuesday's home defeat by Gillingham and went off at half-time.
"It's not as bad as we first feared but it's still a nasty injury and he will be out for a while," manager Gary Waddock told the Wycombe website.
"We were disappointed for Woody because he's done very well since joining the club. "
Wood joined the Chairboys from Brentford in July and scored his first goal for the club, a spectacular 35-yard volley, during last Saturday's 3-1 victory at York.
Meanwhile, vice-captain Matt Bloomfield could miss Saturday's home game against Bristol Rovers because of a groin problem.
