Ronnie Moore not carried away with Tranmere's perfect start

Manager Ronnie Moore is not getting carried away with the 100% start that Tranmere have made to the season.

Victories over Leyton Orient and Carlisle have put Rovers top of League One, while they also progressed to round two of the Capital One Cup.

"It's been a good start, but we've got to keep our feet on the floor," Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"We've not won anything, but we're top of the league and our two performances have warranted us being there."

Rovers have also scored more league goals (six) than any other team in the division.

"We go for wins," added Moore. "We're not a side that's going to just defend, although we could because we've got pace in the side and we can counter-attack teams if we need to."

Experienced midfielder Andy Robinson was the star of Tranmere's 3-0 win at Carlisle on Tuesday, netting the first hat-trick of his career.

"He's needed a good pre-season under his belt and he's had that this summer," said Moore.

"His dedication to the job is fantastic and the young kids in the team can only learn from him.

"I couldn't believe it when he said it was his first hat-trick, and they were all fantastic goals.

"He's good for us because he keeps the ball. Those players are worth their weight in gold."

Tranmere go to promoted Shrewsbury on Saturday.
