Mali striker Modibo Maiga hungry for success with West Ham
Mali striker Modibo Maiga is determined to be a success with West Ham and make his mark on the Premier League.
"Scoring my first goal was great and I was happy to contribute to the victory," he told the club's website.
"I hope to score a lot more goals. I really, really want to do well here and am determined to be successful."
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce gave Maiga his first start against Crewe, having opted to bring the striker off the bench in the first two league games of the season.
While Allardyce believes overseas players need time to adjust to the rigours of English top-flight football, Maiga feels he can make an impact.
"I came here to play a big role in the Premier League. I feel like I am ready to contribute now," he said.
His performance against Crewe, which included an assists as well as his goal, suggests he could be pushing hard to be in the starting line-up against Fulham on Saturday.
"I thought he was fantastic," said Hammers assistant manager Neil McDonald. "He is still getting used to the pace of English football and that takes time to settle into.
"But I thought he got stronger as the game went along."
