Luton Town cancel Newman Carney's contract

Luton have terminated the contract of teenage defender Newman Carney by mutual consent.

Carney, 18, signed a 12-month deal in July but a club statement said he had missed training on several occasions.

"The club tried to resolve the situation by asking Newman to commit fully to playing and training, but this offer was rejected.

"Despite attempts to loan Newman out to various clubs, no resolution could be found," a statement said.

Carney had an unsuccessful trial with a unnamed Football League club over the summer following his return from a pre-season training camp in Portugal with Luton's first-team squad.
