Bristol Rovers 3-1 Northampton

Bristol Rovers picked up their first home win of the season in convincing fashion over 10-man Northampton.

Anthony Charles was the man who saw red when he dragged down Derek Riordan midway through the first half.

Tom Eaves stroked in Eliot Richards' cross after half-time to break the Cobblers' resolve, before Garry Kenneth finished Richards' corner.

Adebayo Akinfenwa nodded in for the visitors, but Ollie Norburn restored the two-goal cushion with a header.

Northampton Town manager Aidy Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton:

"It's the second time we've been down to 10 men after 20 minutes and in an away fixture you need to be resilient and strong with 11 men.

"We had to regroup and unfortunately for us we conceded some poor goals.

"It was a game that we could've won. When you come to a ground where they haven't had a home win and the natives are ready to turn... we didn't frustrate them enough.

"We've got to ride out this period of injuries and sendings off and somehow hang on to the pack until we can get everyone back. We won't be feeling sorry for ourselves."
