Gateshead boss Ian Bogie has said winger Josh Gillies deserved an England C recall for his performances so far this season.
Gillies, 22, made his debut against Belgium in August and is in the squad of 16 to face Albania on Tuesday.
"Josh has deserved it, he's played every game this season and he's been our spark," Bogie told BBC Newcastle.
"I am sure he'll go to a new environment and given the opportunity will do well for England."
The former Whitley Bay forward joined the Tynesiders in June 2010, after he led the Seahorses to success in the FA Vase and has since scored six goals in 60 league appearances.
