Livingston earned a valuable away victory against Hamilton Accies in a bad-tempered clash at New Douglas Park.
Steven May lashed in from close range for Accies within 60 seconds, but John Hughes' men hit back two minutes later when Stefan Scougall fired home from the edge of the area.
Marc McNulty's goal on nine minutes proved to be the winner after he got on the end of Anthony Andreu's inviting cross to slot into the net from 12 yards.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men in the second half. Alex Neil was given a straight red for a dangerous tackle on Jesus Garcia Tena, before Kevin McCann walked for a second booking after 74 minutes.
Livingston have now made up ground on fifth-placed Cowdenbeath, while Accies remain second bottom.
