Bury 1-1 Southend

Bury and Southend will require an FA Cup second round replay after a barnstorming draw at Gigg Lane.

Matt Doherty's penalty put the Shakers ahead - his first goal since joining on loan from Wolves - after Ryan Cresswell felled Troy Hewitt in the box.

However their lead lasted less than 10 minutes as Gavin Tomlin's magnificent solo effort levelled proceedings.

The Shrimpers almost got a late winner but both Michael Timlin and Barry Corr hit the woodwork in injury time.

Moments before, the hosts could have won it themselves, but no one could convert with the ball bouncing around the Southend six-yard box, meaning a replay is needed to decided who will make the third round.
