Dunfermline slipped two points behind First Division leaders Partick Thistle after being held to a draw by Hamilton.
Steven May's low drive gave the visitors a 17th-minute lead.
Andrew Barrowman levelled with a neat finish off Craig Dargo's cross 12 minutes before the break.
Both sides had chances to claim victory in the second half with Hamilton's Gary Fisher striking against the post and Dunfermline's Josh Falkingham having an effort saved.
