Queen of the South moved nine points clear at the top of the Second Division with a narrow victory against Brechin City.
Derek Lyle came close to giving the hosts an early lead, Michael Andrews producing a smart stop to keep the striker's header out.
The opener came when Nicky Clark picked out Danny Carmichael and the midfielder converted with a neat finish.
Jonathan Stewart was denied an equaliser by goalkeeper Lee Robinson before the break and there were few chances in the second half.
