Carlisle piled more misery on League One basement side Hartlepool with a dominant Boxing Day victory.
The Cumbrians, who themselves are near the foot of the table, went ahead when Sam Collins diverted ex-Pools man Matty Robson's effort into the net.
The visitors had an effort from Steve Howard cleared off the line, before Robson made it 2-0 against his former side with a close-range finish.
Robson was instrumental in the third as Lee Miller headed in his cross.
Carlisle now sit five points clear of the relegation zone, while their opponents lie 14 points adrift of safety.
Pools' only victory in all competitions came against Scunthorpe in September.
