Grimsby 1-1 Hereford

Grimsby went back to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier but could only manage a draw against Hereford.

Nathan Pond gave the home side an early lead after heading in Joe Colbeck's cross from the right from close range.

The visitors levelled three minutes before half-time as Ryan Bowman turned the ball in from close range following Marley Watkins' cross.

Grimsby went within inches of a winner but Crawley loanee Richard Brodie fired narrowly wide from 25 yards.

Grimsby Town joint-manager Rob Scott told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I thought we were by far the better team. They didn't show a great deal of ambition, but it is not up to them to do that.

"We make an error just before half-time, which is doubly frustrating in the context of the time of it, and then they get back in it.

"Then I think they show what they would have done from the outset if we hadn't scored so early - and that was get bodies behind the ball and look to hit us on the counter-attack.

"We are still looking at bringing players into the football club, we know that we want to strengthen between now and the end of January. Whether it is Ross Hannah or somebody else, we will have to wait and see."

Hereford manager Martin Foyle told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"It was hard-working, organised and we certainly gave them a few problems.

"I thought we played some good stuff at times, without really working the goal as much as we'd like.

"To get four points from two of the hardest away games of the season is great. It's a slog but the games are coming thick and fast."
