Plymouth 2-1 Morecambe

John Sheridan

John Sheridan began his managerial tenure at Plymouth with a victory over relegation rivals Morecambe.

Sheridan, who took over at Home Park following Carl Fletcher's sacking, saw Argyle captain Conor Hourihane drive the hosts in front from 20 yards.

Within six minutes Argyle doubled their lead when Paris Cowan-Hall deftly flicked in Ronan Murray's cross.

Ryan Williams's long-range shot pulled one back for the visitors, but late on they saw Andrew Parrish dismissed.

Parrish, who scored the winner in the Shrimps' 2-1 triumph over Dagenham in mid-week, was sent off for a foul on Onismor Bhasera.

Plymouth Argyle manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Devon:

"I am really pleased with the players, their attitude has been different class since I came in and the tempo of the training has been really good.

"To get two goals gives you a cushion and it means they've got to score three to win and I'm not sure they've (Morecambe) ever done that.

"We're at the bottom of the league and we know what's at stake and you could see that in the players. That's something I've got to get out of them.

"I think a lot of our problems are a pet hate of mine, just silly things like mis-kicking the ball and not clearing the ball properly."
